“Jesus Loves Me This I Know . . .”

I grew up singing this song. And I could say I know God loves me – for this very reason – the Bible says so. But one day I asked myself a question. I said, “Do I act like and feel like I am loved? God loves me. So do I act like I am loved?” If you know it, do you act like it? Or do you act like you are unlovable and nobody loves you?

I asked myself, “Do I worry about what other people think about me? Or am I filled with confidence as God’s daughter?” What about you? Do you worry about the opinions of others or are you confident as the son or daughter of God?

I asked myself, “Am I still feeling guilty and condemned over something that I did years ago? Do I feel unworthy?” Yet, I know God has said He has forgiven my sins when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I am accepted in His sight. So do I act like I am forgiven and covered with Christ’s righteousness? What about you? How do you act? Are you still feeling unacceptable or unworthy?

 I asked myself, “Do I still go around feeling lonely at times, feeling unwanted?” Yet, God said He would never leave me or forsake me. Do you still go around feeling lonely or unwanted?

I John 4:16 says God is Love. That means His very nature is love. It is who He is. While on earth, Jesus knew who He was: He was the Son of God. He knew the Father loved him. He was sent with a purpose, sent to save us from our sins, and make available eternal life with Him. He was made our High Priest and given a name above all names. Do you know who you are? Do you know your purpose?

Have you accepted Jesus Christ into your life but still feel unwanted, unloved, or unworthy? Realize who you are now. You are – a child of God, adopted into His family. The God of this universe loves you, has a purpose for you, wants you, and accepts you. Don’t find your worth in how someone else thinks of you or even how you may think of yourself, but find it in how God thinks of you. He has taken you from the kingdom of darkness and has set you in His kingdom of light. He has taken you from death and given you life. He calls you by name. He knows the number of hairs on your head. He carries your picture in His hand.

No one knows you like God and no one loves you like God. So don't think to yourself, "He may love so and so, but He couldn't love me." He tells us that He is no respecter of persons. That means: "Yes, He can love you and He does!"

Did you ever wonder how God could love so many people? I did. Then I began to think about my own children. I loved my first child so much that when I became pregnant with my second child, I wondered how it would be possible to love another child as much as I loved my first daughter. But I found I was capable of loving my second daughter just as much as my first. Then my son came along. Again more love poured from my heart.

 I realized it is the same way with God. No matter how many of us there are or will be, His love just keeps growing and growing and growing. He calls us His children. He tells us He has an abundance of love for each one of us. You are that special son or daughter He always wanted. Realize how special you are. When you do, you will act special. You are wonderful because you are made in His image. You are beautiful because He created you. You are precious because He calls you by name.

I was doing a Bible study in my home one day and as I was studying - God’s love was so impressed on my heart that I thought to myself; everyone needs to know the depth of His love for us. His love impacts our lives in so many ways. He is calling to you. He wants you to know Him, not just know of Him. He wants you to spend time with Him, to love Him. He wants you to see yourself as He sees you. He wants you to know He loves you and accepts you. He’s not like others, who would reject you. His Love is like nothing else.

Sometimes we look to people for the unconditional love that only God can give. And, then we wonder why we’re always disappointed. But, God is not like people. Nobody in the entire world will ever love you like God loves you. Take His “Word” for it; He will love you for all time - even into eternity. Our value comes from being rooted in knowing we belong to God. God doesn’t sponsor flops. We are His workmanship. Fill yourself up with what God says. See yourself as God sees you.

Following are verses from the Bible that have been personalized just for you. Unless they are otherwise noted, they are taken from the NIV translation. The references are in parenthesis. Each verse attests to the fact that God truly does love you and that you are very special:

*      I have been redeemed and my sins have been forgiven through God's son. (Col.1:14)

*      I am God's child, through faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)

*      I am Christ's friend. (John 15:15)

*      I am chosen, holy and dearly loved. (Colossians 3:12)

*      God has anointed me and put His Spirit in my heart. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)

*      I have been given favor and honor. (Psalm 84:11)

*      I am blessed because I trust in the Lord. (Psalm 84:12)

*      In all things, I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me. (Romans 8:37)

*      I am the righteousness of God, through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

*      I walk in love. (John 13:34)

*      I live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38)

*      Through Christ, I have direct access to the Father, by His Spirit. (Ephesians 2:18)

*      My life will be exceeding abundant . . . because His power is at work in me. (Eph. 3:20)

*      I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength. (Phil. 4:13)

*      God has given me a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

*      I am the salt and light of the earth. (Matthew 5:12, 14)

*      I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit. (John 15:16)

*      I am God's temple and His Spirit lives in me. (1 Corinthians 3:16)

*      No weapon formed against me will prevail. (Isaiah 54:17)

*      I have victory through Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

*      NOTHING in all creation can separate me from the LOVE OF GOD! (Romans 8:39)

 Judge yourself by how God sees you - not as others may think of you or even as you may think of yourself. Believe what God says about you. We shouldn’t be victims. Through God, we are conquerors, winners, over comers - not defeated foes.
